Dear Parents,
We’ve had such a fun and amazing two weeks with your children! It’s been a joy watching them explore, learn, and grow together. Thank you for your continued support – we’re looking forward to more exciting moments ahead!
We also want to wish you all a very Happy Easter if your family celebrates it, and for those who don’t, enjoy the long weekend! We look forward to seeing all of you back on Tuesday (April 22).
Large Group
Our large group session began with a warm greeting, followed by singing the "Good Morning" song and taking attendance. Afterward, we engaged the children by asking them about the colors they were wearing, encouraging them to observe and share. We then read the book "Waiting Baby," which the students enjoyed and engaged with attentively.
Gymnastics
Our gymnastics session was fun, engaging, and thoroughly enjoyed by the students. We prepared several colorful balloons and attached them using ropes that were hung across the room. The balloons were suspended at different heights, creating an exciting and stimulating environment.
The children were invited to lie on the floor and try to kick the balloons above them. This playful activity was not only entertaining but also beneficial for developing their leg strength, coordination, and flexibility. It encouraged active movement, body awareness, and gross motor skill development in a joyful and motivating way.
Overall, the session was a great success and helped promote physical fitness through creative play.
Art
Our art activity was thoughtfully connected to our ongoing science exploration of different textures, such as soft, rough, hard, sticky, and fluffy (fuzzy). The children had the opportunity to engage their senses by touching and discussing various textured materials, which laid the foundation for a creative collage project.
We brought these ideas to life by creating textured artwork on canvas. First, we had a group discussion where students reviewed the textures we explored and selected colors and materials that best represented them. After putting on their art smocks, the children helped prepare the canvas.
To begin the project, we mixed dry macaroni with red food coloring and set it aside to dry. Meanwhile, the students applied glue to the canvas and added cotton, sand, and other textured materials of their choice. Once the colored macaroni was dry, it was added to the collage as a final touch.
This activity not only reinforced their understanding of textures through hands-on experience but also encouraged creativity, fine motor skills, and color recognition. It was a joyful and meaningful project that blended art and science in a fun, sensory-rich way.
Science
Our science activity continued with the theme of hygiene, focusing on cleaning the materials we use during play and activities—specifically, blocks. The goal was to help students understand that cleanliness extends beyond our bodies to the tools and toys we use every day.
We began by preparing all the necessary materials: a mat, table, art smocks, bucket , soap, and the blocks themselves. After putting on their art smocks, the students eagerly gathered around as we turned on the water—an exciting moment for everyone!
The children placed the blocks in the bucket and began washing them using soap. They were highly engaged throughout the process. Once all the blocks were cleaned, we laid them out on the mat to dry.
This hands-on activity helped reinforce the importance of hygiene in a practical and meaningful way. It encouraged responsibility, self-care, and the idea that we should also take care of the materials we use, not just ourselves.
Literacy
Our literacy sessions were truly amazing and provided a fun, hands-on learning experience for the students. These activities played a significant role in developing their focus, fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, and concentration. We designed a creative and engaging task using simple materials: bottle caps, clothespins, and a sheet of paper with a circle drawn on it.
The main activity involved using the clothespins to pick up the bottle caps and carefully place them inside the circle. This simple task was not only enjoyable but also helped build essential pre-writing skills. It encouraged the children to use their fingers and hands with precision and control—skills they need for holding a pencil and forming letters.
What made the session even more special was how determined the students were. They tried hard, stayed focused, and showed real persistence. Some of them found it a bit challenging at first, but we supported and encouraged them along the way. Their smiles and excitement when they succeeded were truly rewarding! The session was both educational and fun. It helped build foundational skills in an interactive way and boosted the students' confidence and motivation to learn.
Math
Our math session continued with the theme of measurement, focusing specifically on the concepts of full and empty. To make the lesson hands-on and engaging, we used rice along with various containers to demonstrate these ideas in a fun and visual way.
The activity involved letting the children explore and compare the containers by filling them with rice. They were able to see the difference between a full container and an empty one through direct interaction. This sensory approach helped deepen their understanding, as they could physically feel and observe the volume differences.
Most of the students were already familiar with these concepts, and it was clear they were understanding them well, which made us very happy. They were excited to participate and did a great job identifying which containers were full, which were empty, and even which ones were half-full. Their confidence grew as they practiced, and they were very enthusiastic about repeating the activity.
This type of practical learning is incredibly beneficial at this stage, as it builds early math skills like observation, comparison, and critical thinking. It also improves fine motor skills and gives them the opportunity to learn through play, which keeps them motivated and engaged.
The session was a big success. The students were focused, curious, and made great progress. It was wonderful to see them learning through such a simple but meaningful activity!
