Dear Parents,

We hope you’ve had a great week. Here in the Preschool classroom, our week has been filled with exciting learning experiences, joyful moments, and wonderful discoveries. Our students have been actively engaged in a variety of activities that support their growth, creativity, and confidence. We are so proud to share these special moments with you!

Large Group

During our large group sessions, we began by sitting together in a big circle and talking about our morning routines and breakfast choices. The students were excited to share their ideas and experiences. We then sang our cheerful Good Morning song, which brought lots of smiles and energy to the group. After that, we read the story “Polite Cat”. It was a lovely story, and all the students listened very attentively. Next, we practiced our Zoo-phonics letters, followed by discussing the days of the week and the weather. We also took attendance as part of our daily routine. As always, these sessions were a delightful way to start our day. The students confidently shared their thoughts one by one, while their friends listened and waited patiently for their turn.

Small Group Sessions

Science

In our science session, we explored the concept of rainy weather with our students. We began by asking them where rain comes from. Some students shared that it comes from the sky, while others said it comes from the clouds. It was wonderful to hear their ideas and thoughts! Next, we talked about the kinds of clothes we wear on rainy days. The students excitedly mentioned raincoats, boots, hats, gloves, and umbrellas. They enjoyed sharing their experiences and understanding how we stay dry in the rain. After our discussion, we went outside for a fun activity where the students used spray bottles to create their own “rain”. They had an amazing time exploring and playing while learning.

Back in the classroom, the students made their own rainy weather artwork. They used cotton to create clouds by sticking it at the top of their paper. Then, they chose white paint, dipped their index fingers into it, and made raindrops all around their paper. The activity was creative and engaging. It was a great session, and the students were very active and participated wonderfully. We had a fantastic time learning about rainy weather together!

Library

In our library session, we enjoyed reading a lovely story called “Polite Cat”. The story taught us the importance of using kind words like “please” and “thank you,” just like the lion in the book learned to do. The students listened very attentively and showed great interest throughout the story. After reading, the students had the opportunity to choose their favorite books. They happily explored the pages, looked at the colorful pictures, and read together with their friends. Some students were also excited to select books to take home and enjoy with their families. It was a wonderful and joyful time in the library, filled with learning, sharing, and a love for books!

Math

In our math session, the students enjoyed exploring colors and numbers through fun, hands-on activities. We began by asking the students to identify different colors one by one, and they eagerly shared their answers. Next, we provided a variety of colorful counting materials such as animal toys, pom-poms, and counting bears. The students were excited to choose their favorite colors and start counting the items. This activity was a wonderful learning experience. The students did an amazing job counting and sorting, while also developing their focus, speaking skills, and both fine and gross motor skills.

Art

In our art session, we continued our second canvas activity by creating hand and feet prints. Before starting, we had a fun discussion about our bodies. We talked about how many fingers and toes we have, and why our hands and feet are important. The students shared many wonderful ideas! After our discussion, we prepared for the activity. We explained that before printing, we needed to create a background. The students worked together to paint the canvas light blue using sponges, and everyone had a chance to participate. It was a great and enjoyable time. The students were engaged, creative, and excited to be part of the activity!

Literacy

In our literacy session, the students engaged in a fun Zoophonics activity, matching beginning sounds with corresponding items. We started by reviewing the letters from A to M and placing them on the mat. Next, we introduced a box filled with different objects. The students took turns picking an item from the box and matching it to the correct letter based on its beginning sound. They especially enjoyed choosing their favorite letters and making connections. It was a fun and engaging activity, and the students participated very well. We are excited to continue this learning next week as we explore letters from N to Z!
