Dear Parents,

We hope this blog finds you well! This week in Pre-K class was an absolute blast. Every activity we did was fun, engaging, and truly memorable. Our students were very active, excited, and eager to participate in all the wonderful experiences throughout the week, and they did an amazing job in every activity.

Our students are also very excited about the Art Auction! They have been counting down all week and cannot wait for their artwork to become part of a special project at home. They have been talking about it nonstop, which has made the excitement even more special.

Overall, the week was full of fun and interactive learning experiences. Students worked both collaboratively and independently, showing kindness, teamwork, and confidence without competition. Read on for more details about our exciting week!

Large group

Our large group time was fun and engaging, as always. The students have become very familiar with our routine and know exactly where to sit each time we gather together.

During our large group sessions, we continued learning about different shapes each day, including both two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes. Revisiting these concepts daily helps students better understand and remember the differences between them.

This week’s sight words were “their,” “will,” and “have”. The students learned them so quickly! We also reviewed all the sight words we have learned so far, and we were very proud to see that they remembered them so well.

We also read a story and discussed the morning message together. These discussions help students build confidence when speaking in front of their friends and encourage them to share their thoughts and ideas comfortably.

As always, we completed all of our classroom job responsibilities. This week, students especially enjoyed counting down to the Art Auction by crossing off the dates on the calendar to see how many days were left. This made them even more excited!

And of course, there was music time, one of our students’ favorite parts of the day. They loved singing and dancing together.

Our students continue to do amazingly well, and we are so proud of all they have achieved so far.

Math

This week in math, we continued learning about time and completed our final activities for the topic.

In the first session, students completed a worksheet where they matched analog clocks to the correct digital clocks. They also practiced reading and telling the time shown on each clock.

In the second session, students made their very own paper watches. We prepared paper circles in advance, and the students carefully drew and wrote the numbers to create their clocks. After laminating the watches, we added pipe cleaners to act as the watch straps. With support, students assembled their own watches and were incredibly excited about the final result.

We officially wrapped up our time unit this week, and next week we will begin a brand-new and exciting math topic!

Literacy

This week in literacy, we planned fun and engaging activities to make learning even more enjoyable as the school year is coming to an end.

As mentioned earlier, our students continue learning new sight words every week and practice them daily. This week, we made sight word practice extra exciting by turning it into a sight word hunt!

We took the students outside and hid sight words they had already learned around the play area. Each student had a paper with their picture on it attached to the wall. After finding a sight word, students returned to their paper, wrote the word down, and then read it aloud.

This activity helped strengthen their sight word recognition while also improving their handwriting and reading confidence. The students had a wonderful time and stayed highly engaged throughout the activity.

Social studies

This week in social studies, we began an exciting new topic about our environment and how we can help keep it clean.

In our first session, we discussed what makes the environment dirty and what we can do to help care for it. Students shared many thoughtful ideas and connected the topic to places that are important to them, such as their homes and school.

Later, during our library session, we read a book and discussed germs. We connected this discussion to our classroom environment and talked about the importance of keeping our classroom clean and healthy.

This inspired us to wash our classroom toys together during the second session. We went outside and prepared everything needed for cleaning. The students worked wonderfully as a team; some washed the toys with soap, others rinsed them with water, and another group helped dry the toys with towels.

The activity was filled with smiles, teamwork, conversations, and laughter. It was such a beautiful and memorable experience, and the students even asked if we could do it again during future sessions!

Art

This week in art, our Pre-K class had lots of fun as we finished our canvas art projects. To make the experience even more exciting, we combined music and art in a creative activity. For our musical drawing activity, we arranged chairs in a circle with paper, crayons, and markers placed on each chair. While familiar music played, students danced and walked around the chairs. When the music stopped, they quickly found a chair and began drawing anything they wanted. Once the music started again, they stopped drawing and continued dancing around the circle.

The students repeated this process several times, adding more details to their drawings each round.

This activity was incredibly fun, energetic, and memorable because it combined creativity, movement, music, and art all together. Our students created beautiful drawings, and we are so proud of their creativity and enthusiasm, as always.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
