Dear Parents,
We are excited to share with you some of the wonderful moments from our week in Preschool! It has been a joyful and engaging time filled with learning, creativity, and meaningful experiences. From circle time discussions to hands-on activities in math, science, and art, our students have been actively exploring, sharing, and growing every day. We invite you to take a moment to read through our weekly highlights and celebrate the amazing efforts and progress of your children with us!
Large Group
During our large group sessions, we gathered in a big circle and began by sharing our morning routines and breakfast choices. The students were excited and eager to talk, showing great confidence as they spoke one by one. We then sang our cheerful Good Morning song, filling the room with smiles and positive energy. After that, we enjoyed reading the lovely story “The Things I Love About Playtime”, and the students listened very attentively.
Next, we practiced our Zoo-phonics letters and had discussions about the days of the week and the weather. We also took attendance together as part of our daily routine. During message board time, we focused on matching numbers from 1 to 10, and every student had a chance to practice on the board. The children showed wonderful listening skills, patience, and confidence while sharing their thoughts and waiting kindly for their turn. It was a joyful and meaningful learning time for all!
Small Group Activities
Math
During our math session, we focused on matching numbers in a fun and engaging way. We began by singing a cheerful number song, which helped the students get excited and ready to learn. After that, we counted numbers from 1 to 10 together as a group, building confidence and reinforcing number recognition. Next, we practiced matching numbers on the board, and each student had a chance to come forward and try. The students were eager to participate and enjoyed taking turns.
After the group activity, we provided each student with a matching numbers worksheet along with their favorite crayons. The students worked independently, carefully matching the numbers, and it was wonderful to see their understanding of the activity. Most of them did very well, and we were there to guide and support those who needed help. The whole class enjoyed this activity, and we look forward to more math explorations together in the future!
Science
In our science session, we focused on learning about windy weather. We began by asking the students what wind means and discussing what kind of clothes we wear on windy days. The children were excited to share their ideas and experiences. After our discussion, we did a fun experiment. We asked the students to close their eyes while we gently shook a book near them. They smiled as they felt the air move and realized that wind is something we can feel even if we cannot see it. Next, the students enjoyed a hands-on activity where they made their own paper jets using their favorite colored paper. With guidance, they carefully folded their jets and got ready for outdoor play. We then went outside to test our jets and observe if they moved because of the wind. The children were thrilled to see their jets flying and moving with the breeze. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to explore and understand wind through play.
Library
In our library session, we read a lovely book called “The Things I Love About Playtime”. The story is part of a series that celebrates everyday experiences in children’s lives. It highlights how love, care, and time together help children feel confident, build resilience, and develop strong self-esteem. All the students listened attentively and showed great interest in the story. After reading, we had a discussion where we asked the children what kind of games they like to play. They happily shared their ideas and interests one by one, building their confidence and communication skills. After the discussion, the students explored the library by choosing their own books. They enjoyed opening the books, looking at the pictures, and turning the pages independently.
Art
In our art session, we worked on our second canvas, focusing on sunny weather. The students began by painting their canvas light blue to represent the sky. They enjoyed spreading the paint and watching their sky come to life. Next, we created a circle in the center, and the students painted it yellow to make a bright sun. After that, they used glue to carefully stick orange strips around the sun to show the sun’s rays. This step was especially exciting as they saw their artwork become more detailed and colorful. It was a very engaging and enjoyable activity for both the students and the teacher. The children were proud of their beautiful canvas work. To finish, we placed the paintings in a sunny area to dry, making the experience even more connected to our theme. It was a creative and joyful learning time for the whole class!
