Dear Parents,
We are excited to invite you to take a look at our preschool weekly highlights! This week was filled with joyful learning, fun activities, and wonderful moments across our large group and small group sessions.
Large Group
During our large group session, we gathered together in a big circle and began by sharing our morning routines and breakfast choices. The students were excited and eager to talk about their experiences, showing great confidence as they spoke one by one. We then sang our cheerful Good Morning song, filling the room with smiles and positive energy. After that, we enjoyed reading the lovely story “How Much Do You Love Me?”, and the students listened very attentively throughout.
Next, we practiced our Zoo-phonics letters, followed by discussions about the days of the week and the weather. As part of our daily routine, we also took attendance together. During our message board time, we focused on counting numbers from 11 to 20, with students taking turns to count one by one. It was a wonderful start to our day! The students showed great listening skills, patience, and confidence as they shared their thoughts while their friends waited kindly for their turn.
Small Group Sessions
Math
During our math session, we had an exciting time exploring numbers 1 to 10. We began by counting together as a group, building confidence and enthusiasm. Then, each student had a chance to practice counting independently, showing great effort and progress. To make learning even more fun, we moved outdoors for a number hunt! We hid numbers 1 to 10 around the playground, and the students eagerly searched for them. As they found each number, they proudly shared what they discovered. It was truly an amazing and joyful experience!
This activity helped the children develop their focus, strengthen both gross and fine motor skills, and improve their number recognition, all through play-based learning. To wrap up our session, we gathered together to talk about which numbers the students found and how they felt about the activity. We ended by happily singing our counting song from 1 to 10. It was a wonderful session, and all the students participated beautifully!
Literacy
In our literacy session this week, we continued our exciting journey of matching items with their beginning sounds, focusing on letters N to Z. Last week, we explored letters A to M, and the students were eager to build on their learning. We began by sitting together in a circle and reviewing all the Zoo-phonics letters, along with their names, sounds, and motions. The students enjoyed practicing each letter with enthusiasm. Next, we placed the Zoo-phonics letters from N to Z on the mat and prepared a box of matching items. We first modeled the activity by showing the students how to choose an item and match it with its beginning sound. Then it was their turn! Each student had the opportunity to come forward, select their favorite item, and match it correctly. Every child had multiple turns, making the session very active, engaging, and participatory. It was a wonderful learning experience, and the students showed great confidence and excitement while practicing their beginning sounds.
Science
In our science session this week, we explored cloudy weather. As you may remember, over the past two weeks we have been learning about different types of weather, including sunny and rainy days. This week, our focus was on clouds and what we see in the sky on a cloudy day. We began by sitting together and having a discussion. The students shared their ideas about what clouds look like and what kind of clothes we wear during cloudy weather. It was wonderful to hear their thoughts and observations.
After our discussion, we went outside to observe the clouds in the sky. The students were excited to look up, describe the shapes, and talk about what they could see. Back in the classroom, the children enjoyed a hands-on activity. Using blue paper, cotton balls, glue, and brushes, they created their own fluffy clouds. Each child worked independently, showing creativity and enthusiasm. It was a fantastic session that supported the development of the students’ speaking skills, creativity, and fine motor skills. We had a wonderful time learning and exploring together!
Library
During our library session, we read the lovely story How Much I Love You. It was a beautiful book that showed different ways a parent expresses love for their child. The students listened attentively and enjoyed the warm and caring message of the story. After reading, the children had a chance to share how much they love their families. One by one, they expressed their feelings with sweet and thoughtful words:
● Haven shared, “I love my mommy, daddy”.
● Lukas said, “I love my daddy, mommy, and my dog”.
● Andreas said, “I love my mommy and daddy with a big hug”.
It was a very touching moment to hear their kind words. After the discussion, the students chose their favorite books. They enjoyed looking at the pictures and turning the pages, exploring stories in their own way. It was a wonderful and joyful time in the library, filled with love, learning, and imagination.
