Early Preschool and Preschool

Dear parents,

We had wonderful week!

We would like to thank you for joining us for parent teacher meetings throughout the week; we do hope you enjoyed our meetings.

What did we do this week?

Our small group activities for this week were Cooperative Games, Literacy, Science, Math and Library. And our special activities were Art and Music.

During our literacy activity we had fun time exploring with our letter of the week ‘c’. We started our activity by talking about our zoo-phonics friend ‘Catena Cat’, how she likes to drink milk and that sometimes when she drinks her milk the milk touches her whiskers. And how she cleans her whiskers with her paws. As children imitated the actions that their new friend Catena Cat made, we talked about the sound that she makes. Following that we gave the children a printout of the letter ‘c’ for the children to trace using markers or play dough.

For Science this week we talked about where the rain comes from. After doing so we had fun experiment using shaving cream, water, cup, food color and droppers.

We started our experiment by filling half of the cup with water and adding shaving cream on top of the water the children were excited to squeeze the shaving cream out of the can. While adding the shaving cream onto the children’s cups, we talked about how it looked like the cloud. Following that we added food coloring into the droppers so they can squeeze the food coloring on to the shaving cream. They were really amazed as they saw the food color go through the shaving cream and drop on water.

This week for Math we had chance to review our knowledge on shapes. So for this week we talked about the first three shapes (circle, triangle and square). During our activity we talked about the names of the shapes and the number of sides they have.

Starting next week, we are going to challenge the children with more shapes like pentagons, hexagons, heptagons and so on.

During our Music time this week we had an amazing movement activity where the children pretended to be different animals.
