Happy Birthday! Yadon
Large Group
This week, our Early Pre-K large group sessions were bursting with energy and learning! We focused on the letter “b,” diving into its sound and building vocabulary with words that start with “b.” During morning message time, the children took turns practicing their writing skills by tracing numbers 1 to 10 on the board, showcasing their growing abilities.
In math, we introduced the number “4,” and the class had a blast counting objects, holding up four fingers, and identifying the number in various contexts. We also revisited the 2D shape of the rectangle, exploring its unique feature of having four sides. The week was a perfect blend of interactive learning and teamwork!
To wrap things up, we had an exciting gymnastics session where the children practiced front and back supports, building strength and coordination. We also reinforced number recognition and fine motor skills by practicing writing numbers 1 through 10. It was a week full of exploration, collaboration, and growth—we can’t wait to see what’s next!
Math
The math activity that we organized for our students was centered around counting objects (animals) and identifying numbers from 1 to 10. To make the learning process more interactive and enjoyable, we used number flash cards and animal figurines as teaching aids. The students were instructed to flip up the number flash card, name the number, and then count the animals that corresponded with the number on the flash card. For example, if the number on the flash card was "3," the students had to count and identify three animal figurines.
As the students engaged in the activity, they not only practiced their counting skills but also honed their ability to recognize and match numbers with quantities. The hands-on nature of the activity made learning math more tangible and concrete for the students, allowing them to grasp mathematical concepts more effectively.
Music
In this week’s music session, the students had the opportunity to not only learn about different musical instruments but also try their hand at playing them. The session began with an introduction to three unique instruments – the xylophone, shaker, and drum. The students were guided through the characteristics and sounds of each instrument as an introduction.
After the introduction, it was time for the students to get hands-on experience. Each student was given the chance to practice playing the xylophone, shaking the shaker, and drumming on the drum. It was a joy to see the students eagerly embracing the instruments, experimenting with different techniques. Once everyone had a chance to practice, the students listened to each instrument’s beat through a speaker. The students listened intently; trying to identify which instrument was making which sound. It was a wonderful moment of discovery as they connected the sounds they had just made with the instruments they had held in their hands.
Science
In our most recent science session, our class of eager young minds was incredibly focused as the teacher introduced a fun and interactive way of learning about land transportation. The teacher showed the flashcards to the students and asked them to name each vehicle. The students giggled with excitement as they called out the names of cars, buses, trucks, and bicycles. The classroom buzzed with energy as students took their turn to describe the function of a car, the size of a bus, or the speed of a motorcycle. With each explanation, the students not only learned about different modes of transportation but also practiced their communication skills and critical thinking.
After all the cards had been flipped down and discussed, the students stepped up to a challenge- playing a memory game. The teacher flipped the cards up for a few seconds, allowing the students to memorize the sequence of vehicles. Then, they quickly flipped them back down and asked the students to recall and name each vehicle before the teacher flipped them up again. The students eagerly participated, showcasing their ability to remember and recognize each mode of land transportation. As the game came to an end, the students beamed with pride at their newfound knowledge and skills. Our exploration of land transportation through flashcards was both educational and entertaining.
Library
This week, a remarkable library session took place where the teacher read the classic tale of "Jack and the Giants" to a group of eager students. The result was nothing short of magical. As the tale unfolded, the students were completely engrossed in the vivid descriptions and thrilling adventures of Jack.
The teacher's animated storytelling captured the students' imaginations, transporting them to a world where giants roamed and bravery reigned supreme. After the story ended, a lively discussion ensued among the students as they enthusiastically shared their favorite moments from the tale. They recalled the story by reflecting their thoughts. Through their discussion, it was evident that the story had sparked their creativity and critical thinking skills.
Gymnastics
This week in gymnastics, our students were challenged in an exciting and invigorating workout that pushed their limits and tested their strength and balance. The workout began with a focus on balance as the students were challenged to perform a balance walk on a bench. This exercise not only requires concentration and focus, but also helps in improving core stability and muscle coordination.
The students enthusiastically embraced this challenge and pushed themselves to excel in their balance and coordination skills. After successfully completing the balance walk, the students were then challenged to do front and back support workouts. This exercise is a great way to enhance upper body strength and stability, as well as improve overall muscle endurance. The students powered through this workout with determination and grit, showcasing their commitment to learning and improving in gymnastics.
