Dear Parents,

We hope this blog finds you well. We warmly invite you to take a look at our weekly blog and discover the fun, learning, creativity, and special moments your little ones enjoyed this week in the Preschool class!

Large Group

In our Large Group session, we start our day by making a big circle and sitting together. We begin by talking about our morning; what the children had for breakfast and how they spent their weekend. We listen to their ideas and give everyone a chance to share. We then sing our Good Morning Song and enjoy a story together. The children listen attentively and engage with the pictures and story.

We continue by reviewing our phonics letters and their sounds and singing our phonics song, which helps the children remember the sounds in a fun way. Next, we sing our Weather Song, choose the weather for the day, and practice the days of the week. We ask questions such as, “How many days are in a week?” and “What day is today?” The children take turns participating and moving the arrow on our calendar. We also take attendance by having the children place their pictures on the happy face.

Together, we count how many friends are present and talk about who is absent. For our Message Board, this week we explored the word “Family”. We talked about how our family can include mommy, daddy, sisters, brothers, and ourselves. The children happily shared their ideas, talked about their siblings, and told us about the people in their families. Large Group is a wonderful time for the children to share their thoughts, build communication skills, review important concepts, and start the day smoothly together.

Small Group Activities

Math

In our math session, we explored AB patterns using colorful pom-poms and animal figures. We first discussed what a pattern is and explained that a pattern repeats itself again and again. We demonstrated an example by creating a simple pattern: one pom-pom, one animal, one pom-pom, one animal. Then, the children were given the materials and had the opportunity to create their own AB patterns. The children participated with excitement and showed a good understanding of the concept. We guided them individually and gave everyone a chance to practice. It was a fun and successful math activity, and we were happy to see their confidence growing as they explored patterns!

Gymnastics

In our gymnastics session, we started with a fun warm-up to prepare our bodies. The children stretched, jogged, and ran around the classroom to get ready for our activities. After warming up, we began our hula hoop obstacle course. The children practiced stepping through the hula hoops by putting their legs through one at a time. They then challenged themselves to walk and crawl underneath the hoops without touching them. This activity helped the children practice their balance, coordination, body control, and gross motor skills. All the children participated with excitement and enthusiasm. They did an amazing job challenging themselves and having fun while moving their bodies. It was an active and enjoyable gymnastics session!

Science

In our science session, we continued exploring sinking and floating. After our previous activities, the children showed a good understanding of which objects sink and which objects float. This week, the children created their own sensory bottles. Each child was given a plastic bottle and a variety of materials, including beads, pom-poms, small rocks, leaves, cotton, ribbons, water, and glitter. They independently chose the materials they wanted to add, filled their bottles with water, and carefully placed the materials inside. After closing their bottles, the children shook them and observed what happened. They excitedly watched which materials floated and which ones sank. It was a fun hands-on experiment that encouraged curiosity, observation, and independent choice-making. The children were very proud of their sensory bottles and were excited to show their creations to their friends. It was a wonderful science experience!

Library

In our library session, we gathered together and read “The Polite Cat.” The story helped the children learn the importance of using polite words such as “please” when asking for something and “thank you” after receiving it. The children listened attentively, looked carefully at the pictures, and shared their thoughts and ideas about the story. After reading, we sang the “Please and Thank You” song together and encouraged the children to use polite words every day. The children then chose their favorite books, found a comfortable place to read, and selected one book to take home.

Art

In our art session, we explored different shapes found around our classroom. The children chose their favorite shapes and colors before beginning their creative activity. Wearing their art smocks, they dipped different sponge shapes into paint and stamped them onto their papers. The children enjoyed exploring the shapes and creating their own colorful designs. After stamping, they added glitter to make their artwork bright and shiny. It was a fun and slightly messy activity that encouraged creativity, choice-making, and hands-on exploration.

Literacy

In our literacy session, we reviewed the phonics letters one by one and introduced the children to their beginning sounds. The children were excited and happy to discover the sound that begins their names. After our discussion, we moved to the art studio to decorate their beginning sounds. The children used colorful paper, glue, ribbons, and glitter to create their own designs. They independently chose their favorite colors and materials and proudly decorated their letters. It was wonderful to see their creativity, confidence, and active participation. Everyone did an amazing job!
