Dear parents,
We had a fantastic and creative week in our Early Preschool and Preschool classroom! We’re excited to share the highlights of our week with you—please take a moment to read through our blog and enjoy the wonderful photos of your children learning, laughing, and growing.
Large group
This week during our large group sessions, we gathered together in a circle and began by taking attendance. We had a fun discussion about the weather and the days of the week, which we added to our message board. Then we practiced counting from 1 to 20 with the help of some catchy songs – everyone joined in and had a great time! To wrap up, we all sang our cheerful "Good Morning" song together.
Art
In our latest art session, our young artists brought their final canvas idea to life—a beautiful unicorn! With guidance from our art teacher, each student chose their own unique colors, resulting in a vibrant and eye-catching display of creativity. This activity wasn't just fun—it was also a great learning experience. The students explored color identification, improved their focus, and expressed their creativity in exciting ways. Working side by side also helped them build teamwork skills. Our unicorn canvas project was a magical blend of art and learning—and the students absolutely loved it!
Math
In our recent math session, our students practiced counting numbers from 1 to 20—one by one, loud and proud! After the counting activity, they worked on fun tracing and coloring worksheets for numbers 11 and 12. It was a joyful and engaging time as the children focused on tracing neatly and coloring carefully. This activity helped strengthen their number recognition, fine motor skills, and attention to detail. Great job, young mathematicians!
Ethiopian center
This week at the Ethiopian Center, our students had a fun and hands-on experience pretending to make injera, a traditional Ethiopian dish. They took turns mixing flour with water to prepare the dough, then carefully poured it into a jug. Next came the exciting part—pouring the dough onto the stove to make a circle, just like real injera! The children were thrilled to take part in each step of the process. It was a joyful and educational session that gave them a deeper appreciation for Ethiopian culture and traditions.
Literacy
In this week’s literacy session, we had a fun and interactive time reviewing all the Zoo phonics letters along with their sounds and motions. The students were excited to recognize most of the letters and eagerly followed along with the actions. After going through all the letters together, each student got a chance to choose their favorite letter and proudly demonstrate its sound and motion. It was a joyful and engaging activity that helped reinforce letter recognition and phonemic awareness. We had a wonderful time learning and laughing together!
