Last Week of November Blog
Dear Parents,
Our early pre-k class had a wonderful Last week of November. Our week was full of opportunities to improve different skills, grow, socialize and have fun.
Large group: For this week in large group, we had the number eight ‘8’, the color brown and the rectangle shape. Our morning massages was about finding the number eight and the rectangle shape on the class wall and extending a simple pattern ‘Circle, square, circle, square’. Our students also enjoyed having turns being a teacher and leading the large group!
Math: This week we continued with combining shapes concept. Our class was combining two shapes on an A4 paper using different colored shapes like (Triangles, squares and half circles).
Cooperative game: Our game focus for this week was improving gross motor skills and balance through doing different things. We walked on straight and zig zag lines, went into a tunnel, jumped using one foot and two feet, and kicked a ball at the end to score a goal.
Science: This week we started a new topic in science which is ‘Animals’. On Wednesday we had a discussion about the animals in general, we shared about our favorite animal and the kind of food they eat. At the end of class, we agreed that next week we are going to learn more about farm animals.
“The giraffe has a long neck so it can eat from the tree.”
“The cheetah is the fastest animal.”
Ethiopian center: On this week's Ethiopian center we kept exploring with transitional materials in the room and the children had a great coffee ceremony!
Literacy: On this week literacy class, we rolled play a story titled “Froggy goes to school”. Our class enjoyed participating in the roll play, “I want to be the mommy” and “I want to be the daddy” said some of the students.
Library: On Thursday our story was about a bunny who wanted to run away from his mommy, so kept imagining different ways that are going to help him run away but the mom always had an idea on how she is going to be with him. The story was under the title “Runaway Bunny”.
Art: Since we started the animals’ topic in science class, we decided to do an art project associated with it. So, we filed a cut out bird on cartoon with colored rice, this activity helped us practice fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination.
Gymnastic: Today’s class started with some stretching and jogging. Then we moved to our main move which is ‘Hand stand’. This move helped us with strengthening our upper bodies and improving balance and stability.
