Dear Parents,
We hope you had a wonderful week. In our Early Pre-K classroom, the children took part in a variety of engaging experiences that supported their early learning, communication skills, and creativity. Through these interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and guided exploration, they continued to build confidence while making meaningful connections. We hope you enjoy reading some highlights from our week together!
Large Group
At the beginning of the week, the children were given the opportunity to share their weekend experiences, which encouraged them to express their thoughts and listen to their peers. This created a lively and supportive environment where communication and confidence continued to grow.
Throughout the week, we also focused on revising previously learned concepts. The children practiced counting, reviewed Zoo Phonics letters, and engaged in discussions about the weather and daily routines. In addition, they revisited 2D and 3D shapes, strengthening their ability to recall and recognize them through guided conversation and visual support.
Songs and interactive participation were included to keep the sessions engaging, allowing the children to actively take part while reinforcing their learning in a fun and meaningful way.
Math
In math this week, the children were introduced to the concept of before and after, with a particular focus on identifying the number that comes after. Using flashcards and number sequences, they practiced recognizing number order in a clear and structured way.
Numbers were placed in sequence, and the children were encouraged to select and identify the number that comes next. This hands-on approach supported their understanding of number progression while strengthening their counting and thinking skills.
Science
During science, we began an exciting new topic on living and non-living things! The children learned simple characteristics of living things, such as the ability to grow, breathe, and need air.
To deepen their understanding, we went outside to explore the environment. The children observed different objects around them and discussed whether they were living or non-living. This outdoor experience helped them connect the concept to real-life situations while encouraging observation and curiosity.
Literacy
In literacy, our class continued learning about vowels, building on their understanding of how vowels differ from consonants. They practiced recognizing vowel sounds and identifying them during activities.
The children also worked on beginning sounds through a hands-on worksheet activity. They cut and pasted the correct letters that matched the pictures shown, helping them connect sounds to symbols. This activity supported phonemic awareness while also strengthening fine motor skills and attention to detail.
Art
In art, the children continued developing their canvas projects, focusing on adding more detail and bringing their ideas to life. They worked carefully with painting materials, applying the techniques they have been practicing.
As they painted, the children showed increasing confidence in their brush control and color use. Through this, our students deepened their creativity, concentration, and independence as they took ownership of their work and expressed their ideas visually.
