Dear parents,

We hope you had a great week. In our Early Pre-K classroom, the children experienced another lively and enriching week full of discovery, creativity, and hands-on learning. Each activity was carefully designed to build early math skills, enhance cognitive development, promote positive social interactions, and nurture their natural curiosity. We are delighted to share some of the special highlights from this wonderful week with you.

Happy Birthday Yostina

Large group

This week during our large group session, the children had a wonderful opportunity to build their confidence and communication skills by sharing their weekend experiences with the class. Each child was encouraged to speak in front of their peers, express their thoughts, and listen respectfully to others. It was heartwarming to see their excitement as they talked about time spent with family, fun activities, and special moments. This activity helped strengthen their speaking and listening skills while fostering a sense of community in the classroom.

In addition, we revisited Zoo Phonics and explored different shapes together. The children actively participated in identifying letter sounds through fun movements and actions, making learning both engaging and memorable. During our shapes activity, they practiced recognizing and naming common shapes, connecting them to objects in their environment. The session was filled with energy, participation, and joy, and we are proud of how confidently the children are expressing themselves and engaging in group learning!

Math

This week during our math session, the children were introduced to an engaging activity focused on identifying and circling the greater number. Through guided instruction and group discussions, they began to understand the concept of quantity and number value in a fun and interactive way. Many of the children showed great enthusiasm as they carefully observed and made their choices, building both confidence and early critical thinking skills.

As the activity continued, the children worked more independently, demonstrating their growing ability to compare numbers accurately. We were delighted to see them using their fingers, counting aloud, and even helping their peers along the way. This session not only strengthened their foundational math skills but also encouraged cooperation and communication among classmates.

Science

This week in our science session, the children explored the concept of non-living things through an engaging and hands-on activity. We began with a simple discussion about the difference between living and non-living things, helping the children understand that non-living things do not grow, breathe, or need food and water. With great excitement, the children then went on a “search mission” around the classroom and outdoor area to identify non-living objects such as stones, chairs, books, and toys. This activity encouraged observation skills and helped them connect learning with their everyday environment.

The children showed wonderful curiosity and teamwork as they shared their findings with their classmates. They practiced using descriptive language to explain what they found and why it is considered non-living. This not only strengthened their scientific thinking but also supported their communication and confidence.

Literacy

This week in our literacy session, the children had a wonderful time exploring letters and building their names using wooden letter blocks. We began by revisiting the letters in each child’s name, encouraging them to recognize and say the sounds aloud. The children were then invited to search for the correct wooden letters and carefully arrange them in order to form their names. This hands-on activity helped strengthen their letter recognition, sequencing skills, and early reading confidence in a fun and meaningful way.

It was lovely to see the children so focused and proud as they successfully built their names. They supported one another, shared materials, and celebrated each other’s efforts, creating a positive and encouraging learning environment. This activity also helped develop their fine motor skills as they handled and placed each block with care. We are very proud of their progress and enthusiasm!

Gymnastics

This week during our gymnastics session, the children focused on practicing leg stretching, with a special introduction to the gymnastics split. We began with gentle warm-up exercises to prepare their bodies, followed by guided stretches to help improve flexibility and balance. The children were encouraged to move at their own pace while learning the correct positioning for a safe and effective split. It was wonderful to see their determination as they tried their best and gradually extended their movements.

The session not only supported their physical development but also helped build patience, confidence, and body awareness. The children listened carefully to instructions and showed great effort in maintaining balance and control during each stretch. We celebrated their progress, no matter how small, and encouraged a positive attitude toward practice and improvement.
