Dear Parents,
We hope you had a wonderful week. Our Early Pre-K classroom was filled with engaging activities that supported the children’s learning across different areas, including language, early math, science, and physical development. Through a combination of structured tasks and hands-on experiences, the children continued to build confidence, strengthen their skills, and enjoy learning together. We are pleased to share a glimpse of our week!
Large Group
During large group time, our students revisited numbers and participated in counting activities to strengthen their number recognition and sequencing skills. The class also continued reviewing Zoo Phonics, practicing letter sounds and movements as part of our daily routine.
We explored the 3D shape sphere, where the children observed its features and discussed how it differs from other shapes they have learned. They were encouraged to think about objects around them that resemble a sphere, helping them connect the concept to real-life examples.
On Monday, the children were given the opportunity to share their weekend experiences. This supported their ability to express ideas, use language confidently, and listen to their peers, creating a positive and interactive group environment.
Math
In math, the children worked on number worksheets focused on counting from 1 to 10. They practiced tracing numbers and matching them with the correct quantity, which helped reinforce number recognition.
This activity also supported the development of fine motor skills as the children carefully traced each number and controlled their pencil movements. Through this practice, they strengthened both their early math understanding and hand coordination.
Science
In science, we continued our weather unit by focusing on wind. The children discussed what windy weather feels like and explored appropriate clothing choices for such conditions. They shared ideas about what we should and should not wear on a windy day, helping them make practical connections to everyday life.
To extend the learning, the children created paper jets and went outside to see how the wind affects movement. As they flew their jets, they observed how the wind carried them in different directions. This activity provided a fun and interactive way to experience the concept of wind while encouraging observation and exploration.
Literacy
During literacy, our class worked on identifying beginning sounds. Using worksheets with different pictures, they practiced recognizing the initial sound of each image and circling the correct letter. This helped strengthen their phonemic awareness and letter-sound recognition.
Football match
On Thursday, the children had an exciting opportunity to participate in a football match with ICS. They wore their jerseys and played with great enthusiasm, showing teamwork, energy, and excitement throughout the activity.
This experience supported their physical development while also encouraging cooperation and confidence in a fun and social setting. It was a joyful highlight of the week for many of the children!
