Dear parents,
We hope this blog finds you well! This week, our students enjoyed a variety of fun and engaging activities in literacy, art, gymnastics, science, and math. Through stories, movement, songs, and hands-on learning, the children explored, created, and developed new skills while learning happily together!
Large Group
During our large group session, the children began the day with a cheerful Hello Song, followed by discussing the days of the week and participating in an action dance. The children were very excited and actively joined in singing, moving, and following the actions, which helped create a positive and energetic start to the session. After the morning routine, we read the story of The Hungry Caterpillar on the Farm. The children showed great interest and excitement while listening to the story. They especially enjoyed the interactive parts of the book where they could touch, open, and explore the pages one by one. This encouraged participation, curiosity, and communication among the children.
During the story discussion, we talked about the farm and the different animals mentioned in the book. The children shared their ideas, identified animals, and talked about their sounds and characteristics. This helped support their language development, vocabulary, and confidence in speaking during group discussions. We also practiced counting numbers together, encouraging the children to recognize and say numbers as a group activity.
Later in the session, we discussed the daily weather and talked about how the weather changes from day to day. The children shared observations about whether the day was sunny, cloudy, rainy, or windy, and we explored the different types of clothing we wear depending on the weather conditions. The children participated enthusiastically by naming clothes such as jackets, hats, or light clothes for sunny weather. Overall, it was a fruitful time, helping the children develop listening skills, social interaction, communication, early literacy, counting skills, and an understanding of the world around them.
Math Activity: Long and Short
During our math activity, students explored the concept of long and short through a fun and interactive experience. We placed different materials on the table for the children to observe, compare, and discuss. The children were very involved and engaged throughout the activity. Most of them were already familiar with the concept and confidently identified which objects were long and which were short.
As they picked up the materials, they excitedly compared them with one another, saying phrases such as, “This is long,” and “This is short.” The activity encouraged observation, comparison skills, communication, and teamwork as the children shared their ideas with friends and teachers. To extend the learning, the teachers also joined the demonstration in a playful and joyful way. The children compared heights with the teachers and with one another, talking about who was taller and who was shorter. There was lots of laughter, excitement, and meaningful conversation during the activity, making the learning experience both enjoyable and memorable for everyone.
Science Activity: Milking Exploration
Today, the children participated in an exciting and hands-on science activity about milking. We prepared a picture of a cow and used a glove to represent the cow’s udder. The glove was filled with milk, and the children had the opportunity to gently squeeze and explore the milking process by themselves. The children were very engaged, curious, and enthusiastic throughout the activity. They eagerly took turns milking and observed how the milk came out from the glove, making the experience both fun and meaningful. This activity encouraged active participation, supported the development of fine motor skills, and helped the children build a better understanding of where milk comes from. It also sparked conversations, questions, and imaginative thinking as the children connected the activity to real-life farm experiences. Everyone enjoyed the sensory experience and showed great excitement during the exploration!
Art
During our art session, the children participated in a fun and engaging foil stamping activity where they explored creativity through colors, textures, and movement. We provided foil, paint, and canvas materials, allowing the children to freely experiment by stamping, pressing, touching, painting, and creating their own unique designs. The shiny foil captured the children’s attention and encouraged curiosity as they discovered different prints, patterns, and textures on the canvas. Each child explored the materials in their own way, confidently expressing their imagination and ideas through art.
Throughout the activity, the children were highly engaged, excited, and happy to participate. They enjoyed observing how the paint spread across the foil and how different stamping techniques created interesting effects and colorful patterns. Some children experimented with gentle pressing while others used bold stamping movements, making every artwork unique and meaningful. The activity created a joyful learning environment where the children felt comfortable exploring, creating, and sharing their ideas with others.
Through this activity, the children not only created beautiful artwork but also experienced the joy of discovery, imagination, and artistic exploration in a meaningful and enjoyable way.
Literacy
During our literacy session, the children explored directions and positional awareness through a fun animal placement activity. First, we discussed arrows and different directions such as up, down, horizontal, vertical, and other directional movements. The teacher demonstrated the arrows by drawing them and explaining how each direction works. After the discussion, the children practiced by placing animal pictures on the correct lines and directions according to the arrows shown.
The students were highly engaged, happy, focused, and actively participated throughout the activity. This activity was important because it helped develop the children’s early literacy and visual discrimination skills, strengthened their understanding of directionality, improved listening and following instructions, and supported fine motor coordination and concentration through hands-on learning experiences.
Gymnastics
During our gymnastics session, the children participated in a basketball activity that focused on developing their gross motor and fine motor skills. We began the session with warm-up exercises to prepare the children for movement and coordination activities. The teacher then demonstrated how to dribble the basketball and explained the correct way to hold and control the ball.
After the demonstration, the children were encouraged to practice dribbling independently and take turns trying to score. Many of the children found dribbling challenging, but they showed great effort, determination, and enthusiasm while practicing their skills. Throughout the activity, we observed and took notes on their gross motor development, balance, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor control while handling the ball. The session was enjoyable and engaging, and it helped the children build confidence, concentration, physical coordination, and teamwork through active play.
