Dear Parents,

Welcome to our preschool weekly highlight! Enjoy reading about the fun activities, new discoveries, and wonderful learning experiences we shared this week!

Large group

In our large group, we started the day by making our big circle and singing our Good Morning song. We talked about how the children spent their morning and their favorite breakfast. We also discussed the weather, days of the week, and calendar. After that, we practiced our phonics sounds and counted numbers from 1 to 15, giving everyone a chance to participate. We also reviewed our classroom rules, reminding the children to be kind, wait for their turns, and use polite words like “please” and “thank you.”

We finished by reading How Much Do You Love Me? The children enjoyed looking at the pictures and sharing their ideas about the love between a mother and her child.

Our large group time gives children the opportunity to build confidence, develop communication and listening skills, share their ideas, and learn to participate as a group. It is also a lovely way to connect with the children, understand their feelings, and start our day together.

Small group activities

Math

In our math session, the children explored numbers from 1 to 15 through a fun, hands-on counting activity. We provided a variety of classroom materials, including colorful pom-poms, animal toys, bears, and cubes. Each child chose their favorite materials and practiced counting them, matching one number to one object.

It was a wonderful opportunity to observe their counting skills, see how confidently they recognized numbers, and identify who needed a little extra support. The children enjoyed choosing their favorite objects, counting, and learning through play. We had a great time learning and exploring numbers together!

Gymnastics

In our gymnastics session, we started with warm-up exercises and stretching our bodies. We also explored a gymnastics book, and the children enjoyed trying different poses and exercises from the book. They practiced balancing on one foot and showed how well they could focus and control their bodies.

After that, we played a fun color-jumping game using different colored musical notes placed on the mat. When we called out a color, the children jumped onto the matching note. It was a great way to practice color recognition, balance, focus, and gross motor skills. Everyone participated happily and did a wonderful job. We also took a short water break to stay refreshed. It was a fun and active session!

Science

In our science session, we continued learning about the five senses, focusing on our sense of taste. We talked about different fruits and vegetables and why it is important to eat them to stay healthy. The children shared their ideas and thoughts.

After that, we used fruit and vegetable toys for a sorting activity. The children identified the different items and sorted them onto two papers, yellow and white. They were excited, asked questions, and enjoyed taking turns. It was a lovely time of learning and exploring together!

Art

In our art session, we continued exploring color mixing. We went to the art studio, put on our art smocks, and prepared our paints. This week, we explored what happens when we mix yellow and blue. The children dipped one finger into yellow paint and another into blue paint, then mixed the two colors together to see what would happen.

They were so excited to see the colors change into green! Everyone was eager to have a turn and enjoyed trying it themselves. It was a fun and exciting hands-on activity, and the children loved their colorful results!

Literacy

In our literacy session, the children had a chance to draw whatever they wanted in their journal books. After drawing, they shared their pictures one by one and explained their ideas to their friends and teachers.

It was lovely to see their different ideas and creativity. Everyone had a chance to share while their friends listened. This activity helped the children build confidence, develop their speaking and listening skills, and practice waiting for their turns. It was a wonderful time of sharing and learning together!
